11/29/11 Furniture The photos of our first international project are here! We are on United Nations ground, at the UN building in Manhattan. WARD 2 designed a kiosk of repurposed shipping pallets to communicate KDI's inspirational project in Kenya. See-through trays display the layers of overlapping landscape improvement plans for the Kibera community, one of the largest urban slums in Africa. |
10/30/11 Office WARD 2 is in entering its next phase. We moved into a treetop office in Medford, ready to take on the challenges of an evolving office. We knew that WARD 2 would one day reside in a space other than Ward 2 of Somerville, but the idea of keeping the memory of our roots and where we began was always in the idea of the name. So please come visit us at our new office: | 29 Boston Avenue, Medford, MA 02155 We are eager to show you the place of our next stage of work and inspiration.
10/13/11 Furniture We're making a small presence at the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt's Design with the Other 90%: CITIES exhibit at the United Nations Building starting this weekend. Kounkuey Design Initiative, KDI, an organization that seeks to create productive public spaces in impoverished communities around the world, asked WARD 2 to design a display kiosk for the exhibit. Pictures to come!

09/26/11 Architecture While renovating the rowhouses in Baltimore, we uncovered surfaces of rich history and cheeky wallpaper, dating back to when the Federal Hill buildings were uninsulated workers' housing in the 1850's. Before we blanket them with fiberglass quilts, gypsum boards and coats of paint, we want to document and honor these very beautiful prints.

09/08/11 Graphics We're busy preparing posters, flyers, look books, and magazine ads for Paola Quadretti for NYC Fashion Week. The new line features beautiful fabrics, textures and colors. PQ opens a Pop-Up store on Madison Ave.

03/18/11 Graphics Who knew that John Harvard was such a dandy? This man of books wore latchet kicks topped by an extravagant five looped ribbon, the folds of which catch various matters and desires.

We had a fun time designing for the Tenth Reunion for Harvard's class of 2001. The logo and imagery first appeared as Save the Date cards and will be reproduced in class reports, bags, and ping pong balls. We are excited for our design to bounce its way into plastic beer cups. |
02/11/11 Architecture Construction begins on the gut renovation of two row houses in the Federal Hill National Historic District of Baltimore. The project includes the design of three condos and a ground floor retail space. We are searching for ways to rehabilitate the 19th century building with 21st Century concerns. Stay tuned. |
