KDI Kiosk Summary:

KDI, an organization that seeks to transform impoverished communities by improving the built environment, asked us to collaborate with them for an exhibit entitled "Design with the Other 90%: Cities". They needed an interactive kiosk to display their Kibera Public Space Project - a model that mapped the environmental, economic and social aspects of the work in an informal settlement in Kenya.

Applying the organization's idea of transformation and reclamation, we designed the kiosk reusing common shipping pallets. Stacked in an uncommon way, an ADA-compliant and interactive model showcases the KDI's inspiring work. Trays slide back and forth between the pallets so that one can isolate and layer the various aspects of the work. The exhibit will be on display at the United Nations Headquarter in Manhattan through January 9th, 2012.
